10 steps for successful hair transplant

Hair loss is an important issue that may occur at different ages and for various reasons that affect people psychologically and socially. Meticulous work and following steps carefully are essential for successful hair transplantation.

Before the hair transplant operation

1- Hair transplantation is an operation that requires experience and professionality. Therefore, try to find out how many years your doctor has been doing hair transplantation and how many patients he has in the meantime.

2- For advertising purposes, do not let any company fool you with wrong applications with different names, do your research about the newest technique in hair transplantation carefully.

3- Do not forget to ask your doctor all the questions you have in mind. Since hair transplantation is an aesthetically essential operation, your doctor must listen to you and your medical history.

4- You must be sure that an experienced health crew and professional hair surgeons participate in your operation. Receive detailed information about your transplantation process. Furthermore, a medical team of at least 4 people and your doctor in a hospital or medical centre that can fully meet the surgical conditions should operate.

5- Expert team take visual pieces of evidence before and after the surgery to show you the result. Before and after photos are an essential reference. However, they might be altered photos with computer aid. Ask to see a lot of images and, if possible, talk to your doctor’s patient who has hair transplanted.

After the hair transplant operation operation

1- The hair transplant specialist draws both the donor and recipient regions with special markers. After the shaving, local anaesthesia is essential for every operation. Our hair surgeons remove the problematic hair follicles.

2- The surgeon uses small, and millimetre punches. They have sharp edges, and the cylinder diameter range is between 0.75 and 0.90 mm. Depending on the density of hair available from each patient, he can collect between 1,200 and 1,500 hair follicle units per session. Do not prefer to transplant a high number of grafts at one time. This wrong procedure can make a second operation impossible if necessary since it consumes the donor area.

3- After extraction, the operation crew place the follicle units in a particular storage solution to maintain the viability of the follicles. Afterwards, they should use specialised solutions and LEDs to acquire the perfect temperature.

4- Eating and drinking breaks are essential for more prolonged operations. Hair transplantation takes an average of 5 to 7 hours (extraction, lunch and implantation). Once they remove the hair follicles, the patient will have a 30-minute break for lunch. You can have a light meal.

5- Your healing process and postoperative duration are as crucial as the operation itself. From the 8th day, the hair follicles fully recover. After the 15th day, the patient can continue his daily life as if s/he never had the operation. From the 3rd week to the 6th week, 80% of the transplanted hair will begin to fall. This is a perfectly normal phase for nearly every patient. Finally, follow your doctor’s orders carefully and see the perfect result.
