Can Hair Transplant Lead To Death?

Getting a hair transplant surgery brings about certain side effect risks alongside. Though most patients don’t experience anything more than mild to moderate discomfort. At worst, the reason for this discomfort is minor infections. Even when considering the worst-case scenario, the risk of death during operation is almost not a matter of discussion. Modern clinics keep their equipment in mint condition at all times to eliminate such a risk.

Though, there have been reports of people experiencing anaphylactic shock during the operation due to allergies. Reported cases often indicate a sensitivity to the local anaesthetic used in operation. For example, there are cases of the delayed allergic response to lignocaine.

Allergies to Certain Medication

So beware if you have a history of allergy to local anaesthetics in the past. Or even if you had allergic reactions to different types of medication, you should definitely inform your doctor about it. Sometimes doctors need to make adjustments to your medications if you happen to have allergies to the medications used in operation. If this is the case, your doctor will change the said medication with an equivalent alternative.

Even if you have a slight suspicion that you might have an allergy, you should inform the doctor anyway. There are tests to determine a person’s allergy status. It is always better to be safe than sorry.

If you show signs of a possible allergy, such as shortness of breath, dizziness, wheezing, skin rash or hives contact your doctor right away. And if you feel you might lose consciousness, be sure that you have a companion. In case of an emergency, a companion can help you with first aid and call medical services.

Apart from a minuscule risk of allergy, there is no reason for a person to lose their life during or after an operation. On a side note, we can avoid allergy-related risks with proper communication on both the doctor’s and the patient’s part.

Conclusion

Apart from the risk of death, there is also a genuine risk of side effects. Mostly, they all boil down to hygienic issues. Providing the patient with positive directions and proper attention from the clinic usually minimise this risk.

Clinics usually instruct their patients after the operation. They give information about how the patient should sleep and wash their head, what medications they should take, etc. Always follow the instructions from the experts and pay proper attention to your operation areas. Most patients who follow these instructions after undergoing hair transplantation get over the procedure with minimal to none side effects.
