Direct Hair Implantation

The DHI Hair Transplantation (Direct Hair Implantation) is a new hair transplantation application. Today, a lot of hair transplant centres offer this method. It is a very special technique, and hair surgeons use special medical pens which re “choi” or Ian implanter. The most definitive feature of this technique is the individual planting process. In contrast to the strip cutting technique, doctors do not have to cut the scalp in the DHI technique. They create individual round natural channels in accordance with the natural exit angle of the hair with the help of a fine medical needle.

Success in hair transplantation operations is directly related to the transplantation of sufficient hair follicles without losing their vitality. DHI technique shortens the period between graft collecting and transplanting of hair follicles. Therefore, the waiting time of the hair follicles in the outdoor environment is relatively short. With DHI hair transplantation, grooving and insertion are quite applicable at the same time.

During the operation, between 2 or 4 Choi pens with different sizes are used, which are 15-16 mm.  The determining factor is the hair follicle and thickness structure.

The aim of this technique is to minimize the length of time the grafts taken from the posterior part of the head are minimized to ensure that they are healthier and more powerful.

Advantages of DHI

DHI hair transplant minimizes the time of hair follicles to stay out of the tissue and ensures healthier transplantation.

Hair follicles’ survival rate is higher.

Due to the fact that the incision area will be less, it decreases the risk of bleeding as much as possible.

The patient can easily return to his daily routine in a short time.

In this method, unshaved hair transplantation is relatively easy.

With DHI Hair Transplant Pen, determining angle and direction is easier.

It is the newest hair transplantation technique that is closest to natural hair, low scar risk, hair density is more frequent, high speed of healing thanks to special needles.

Disadvantages of DHI

In order to use this technique for their patients, both the physician and the medical team must go through a very comprehensive training period.

It is generally a more costly method in comparison to the other methods.

Using medical pens is a relatively new technology, which makes it hard for doctors to be experienced.

The doctor’s hand tendency for frequent planting is important for success.

Since it is a very sensitive technique, a highly specialized and highly successful team takes part in the hair transplantation.

The differences between DHI and FUE

The DHI method also uses the FUE method for the collection of grafts. In DHI hair transplantation, grooving and placement of the grafts are simultaneous with the special pen. This pen allows both the opening of the channel and the placement of the hair follicle at the same time.

While the grafts are in the container, doctors open 3000 channels for the placement of the hair follicles and them 3000 grafts afterwards. On the other hand, doctors implant grafts without waiting. In the DHI technique, there is no grooving process at all.
