Do hair transplants really work?

Hair loss is a problem seen in both men and women, causing unhappiness and lowering self-confidence. Hair loss generally occurs at later ages. And the only permanent solution is hair transplantation. Hair transplant technology has been developing every day for the last 50 years. And as a result of this development, there are many hair transplant techniques available today. That’s why hair transplantation works.

There are many reasons for hair loss. These reasons are mostly due to genetics and excess testosterone hormone. This type of hair loss is called male pattern hair loss. When the DHT hormone in men is secreted excessively, it accumulates in the hair follicles and prevents the hair follicles from being nourished.

When the hair follicles cannot be nourished, the follicles become weak and unable to produce new hair strands. As a result, hair loss occurs.

In addition, hair breakage, skin diseases, drugs used, excessive stress, and some environmental factors can cause hair loss.

What is a hair transplant and how does it work?

Hair transplantation is the transfer of hair to bald parts with the person’s hair follicles, which are usually collected from the neck and upper ear hair area. Hair transplantation has many techniques. These techniques are FUT, FUE, DHI and percutaneous management. Among these methods, the FUT technique is not preferred much. Because the FUT hair transplant technique is incised, scars remain on the skin after the operation. The way to be applied to the patient in hair transplantation procedures is decided according to the needs of the patient after the hair structure, and shedding density is carefully analyzed.

DHI hair transplant technique

In the DHI hair transplant technique, no cutting or shaving is required. Therefore, it is the most preferred hair transplant technique, especially for women. In DHI hair transplantation, quality hair follicles collected from the donor area are placed in the transplantation area with the help of special pens.

The medical device used in the DHI technique can perform grooving and root placement at the same time. In DHI hair transplantation, hair follicles can be collected one by one with the help of a special device. Meanwhile, the grafts are subjected to the separation process and placed in the area to be transplanted with the use of a special pen.

Specially produced for DHI hair transplantation, the CHOI pen provides a more complex operation. Choi pen can do grooving and root placement at the same time. Thus, the roots taken from the skin are placed in Choi without waiting and placed in the opened channels.

DHI hair transplantation is performed under local anaesthesia. Full anaesthesia is not used. Thanks to local anaesthesia, only the anaesthesia to be performed is numbed. DHI hair transplantation takes 5-6 hours on average. The duration of the process varies according to the size and type of the area to be transplanted. Thanks to DHI, very natural results are obtained, especially in the front hairline. Because the front hairline requires both an intense transplantation and a narrow-angle of the transplanted hair follicles, more frequent sowing can be done with the Choi pen and operations can be done in a narrow area.

FUE technique in hair transplantation

All hair transplant techniques work. The world and most particularly preferred is FUE hair transplantation technique in Turkey. The FUE technique starts with shaving the hair. Approximately 1 cm of hair is left. Then, after local anesthesia is applied to the donor area, the hair follicles are removed with a medical instrument together with the micromotor. The roots taken are kept in isotonic or hyposol fluids. In this way, hair follicles can live outside for 6 hours.

After the root collection process is completed, local anesthesia is applied to the area to be transplanted, and the roots are placed by opening the channels where the hair follicles will be placed with a knife. Then, dressing is applied to the incision area.

When will the transplanted hair grow?

Most of the hair obtained after hair transplantation is shed within 2-3 months. For this reason, after 2-3 months, a similar appearance appears before hair transplantation. After the hair shed, new hair strands begin to form thanks to new hair follicles. And after 5-6 months, the change is noticeable. In the following processes, hair growth occurs by 10-15%. And after 10-12 months, 90% of the hair will grow. The entire development of the hair may take an average of 12-18 months.

Can hair transplantation be done at any age?

People can do hair transplantation over the age of 18. It generally covers the age group of 18-60. However, for hair transplantation to be performed, hair loss must first be completed. If the person’s scalp is visible and has experienced excessive hair loss, it can be said that there is more than 50% hair loss. Even if hair loss usually appears in later ages, hair loss may occur in cases such as accidents. Besides, women can benefit from hair transplantation. After hair transplant

The essential part of hair transplantation to work is post-hair care. After the hair transplant, you must follow the instructions given by your doctor. For example, you should not wash your hair every day. Instead, you can wash your hair every two days. Washing your hair too much can damage your hair follicles and kill your hair follicles. And when washing your hair, you should choose shampoos containing natural oils instead of detergent-containing shampoos. While detergent-containing shampoos damage your hair follicles, shampoos containing natural oils nourish your hair follicles and make your hair look more natural.

You should not keep your hair in very hot and very cold environments after hair transplantation. Sun rays coming from the dormant damage your hair follicles. You can wear a hat to protect your hair follicles from sunlight. Also, you should not do sports that are too heavy. Because if your scalp sweats, this will damage the hair follicles and prevent new hair from growing. Follow the instructions given by your doctor for the hair transplant to work.
