Many people suffer from different ear deformations. As a result of that, they may prefer ear surgery due to injuries that misshaped ear or congenital disabilities. Another popular problem we see is the prominent ear. However, whatever you are facing, we offer high-quality and affordable ear surgeries.
In contrast to the normal anatomical position, the epithelial deformity is a condition where the auricle is bent forward. The prominent ear is a common problem in children which can be the source of significant psychosocial, emotional and behavioural problems. It is the most common congenital ear deformity. The deformity does not cause hearing problems because it is only related to the outer part of the ear.
The auricle completes its development around the age of 6 years. In other words, we have ears that are close to the size of an adult ear at the age of 6. The upper part of the ear does not have the necessary curves, and the ear looks flat. The most suitable period for ear surgery is the preschool period as children may feel depressed because of the mockery and nicknames. Although it is possible to fix the deformity with surgery, parents wait until their children grow up.
There are three main problems we face in a prominent ear, which can have different degrees.
- The whole ear may be prominent
- The upper 2/3 of the ear may be prominent.
- The upper 1/3 of the ear may be prominent.
The procedure does not change according to the level of deformity. The phases are the same for any patient with this problem.

Patients who undergo surgery under local anaesthesia can go home on the same day. The procedures can last 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on ear deformity. You can be either under local or general anaesthesia
After Ear Surgery
You can return home on the day of your operation in case you under local anaesthesia during the procedure. Due to the effect of local anaesthesia, there will be no pain during the operation. However, you can take painkillers if you feel uncomfortable.
You should keep your bandage for three days. We recommend you wear a headband for two weeks to avoid trauma. After the ear operation, the ear may swell slightly, and discolouration may occur. However, these problems pass in a few days. In the postoperative period, a more natural appearance occurs as oedema decreases.
As in all surgical operations, there is a postoperative period that you should pay attention to. There are some considerations after the procedures.
- After the operation, you can take a warm shower on the 4th day.
- You can do light exercises two weeks after the operation.
- There may be numbness in the ear for several weeks. In this period, avoid using a hairdryer.
After three weeks, you will become more aware of the new shape of your ear; you do not feel the need to hide it with your hair and start enjoying it. The surgical incision for ear aesthetics is on the back of the auricle. Therefore, it is not visible. This trail gradually decreases in 6-12 months and becomes almost unclear after the operation.
