How Hair Implants Are Done

When the patient comes to hair transplantation, they are welcomed by expert teams. Detailed information is given about the procedure. To analyze the pre-operative and post-operative results, photographs of the head area are taken in certain positions. The hair transplant specialist draws both the donor and recipient areas with special markers, that is, with a mark-like. During this stage, in some techniques, the donor area can be partially or completely shaved.

After the photos are taken, local anesthesia is applied to the donor area, namely the back and sides of scalp. In this way, the skin is made insensitive to sensitivity within a few seconds. The patient does not feel any pain or ache during the extraction process.

The donor area is the area that will give hair to the balding area. Due to the structure of the hair follicles in this area, there is no genetic code such as shedding. For this reason, the transplanted hair does not tend to fall out. Implant specialists take healthy hair follicles from the appropriate parts of the scalp one by one with the DHI technique. Hair follicles are taken; they are placed in low-temperature containers according to the number of feathers they have.

Extraction Process

The extraction process is done with small and millimetric tools called “punches”. It has sharp edges and has a cylinder diameter range of 0.75 to 0.90 mm. It is specially adjusted according to the diameter of each patient’s hair. After the follicular units are cut with a “punches”, they are removed from the scalp very carefully with special tweezers. Between 1,200 and 1,500 hair follicle units can be taken daily per session. The amount of hair follicle depends on the density of the existing hair of each patient. Despite that, it corresponds to the number of hair strands that vary between 2,500 and 3,500 on average.

After extraction, the follicle units are placed in a special storage solution to preserve the viability of the follicles. The hair follicles taken are made ready by another member of the hair transplant team. The member does it by using a magnifying glass (stereoscope) and LED lights to maintain the perfect temperature. Preparation and maintenance of follicular units is the key to the successful outcome of hair implant surgery.

After The Process

Hair implantation is a long process that takes between 5 and 7 hours, patient can take breaks at any time. Since no pain is felt during the procedure, the patient can easily read book, watch movies, and listen to music.

From the 12th month, the patient can come to the medical center to be evaluated. Transplanted hair has no genetically shedding feature. So there will be no risk of baldness again. The results of hair implantation will be permanent.
