If you are frustrated with the sagging skin around the forehead area, then eyebrow lift is the answer. We call it forehead lift too. It reverses the ageing signs. Besides that, it makes you youthful and refreshes your appearance. It corrects the drooping line and saggy skin around your brows. But you need to be careful before and after having surgery.
Types of Brow Lifts
There are two types of eyebrow lift:
Classic Lift
It involves continuous incision. It begins at the level of the ears and goes around your face. Depending upon the hairline, the surgeon will work in a way that there will be no visible scar.
Endoscopic Lift
In this type of eyebrow lift, the surgeon makes multiple shortcuts in your scalp. Further, the doctor will insert a scope into one of the cuts to view the muscles and tissues from a screen. Additionally, one more camera in another cut helps the surgeon to make the necessary changes.
Preparation for the surgery
You need to prepare yourself carefully for the procedure.
Pre-surgery preparation:
You will have to make some lifestyle changes to have a successful surgery. For instance, if you smoke, then quit it. Avoid alcohol for a few months until you are fit again. You have to stop the intake of anti-inflammatory drugs before the surgery. Because these drugs can cause an increase in bleeding. In short, you have to act strictly on these safety measures and also which your surgeon will tell you.
Day of surgery:
Typically, the surgery takes around two hours. You will not need to stay overnight at the hospital. However, there should be someone with you for a few days as a caretaker. During surgery, the doctor makes you anaesthesia. He closes the incision areas with staples or stitches. Then he will cleanse the area to remove all the blood.
A sterilized bandage will surround your face. After coming home, it’s important to take care of the bandage.
Post-surgery precautions:
Make sure you have plenty of bandages and neat towels at home. In addition to these, you should have plenty of ice, container and plastic freezer bags. Keep your head elevated for some time. Apply the ointment on the incision areas regularly. Do not use any additional medications or herbal supplements without consulting with your doctor.
Recovery Period
It depends upon the type of eyebrow lift you have undergone. The stitches and staples remain for a week almost. It can take two weeks too. Bruising and swelling on different parts of the face are common during the recovery period. But swelling lasts for a week. Use ice on the bruises.
Avoid itching strictly. Itching is more likely in the endoscopic procedure. Avoid heavy lifting and exercise. Most patients can recover in two weeks and return to work. Though the side effects are minimal complications can occur. However, in case something happens, get in touch with our doctors immediately.
