Lip Surgery

The definition of ideal beauty has changed differently depending on social values throughout history. However, lips judgments often remain the same. Most people consider plump and alive lips as ideal lip type. Furthermore, full lips are symbols of beauty, youth, attractiveness, and femininity.

Over the years, the red colour of the lip fades, lips sag and flatten. Lip surgery, which allows the lip to regain its attractiveness lost due to ageing, hereditary and other effects, can offer different solutions in this regard.

The size, fullness and thickness of the lips should be compatible and proportionate with the other areas of the face such as nose, cheeks, eyes, eyebrows, jaws and teeth. Therefore, operations that aim only to swell the lips and do not comply with the other structures of the face may lead to an unnatural appearance.

You should discuss with your doctor in detail

  • how your lips will look
  • your expectations and your doctor’s plans
  • previous operations you had

by examining sample photos before the application. An analysis of the characteristics of your lips will ensure a successful operation.

Lip Surgery Types

There are several lip operations in high demand.

1-The most common method in the world is the filler injections. It is the perfect way to make your lips fuller. Patients and doctors prefer injection to the lips as

  • it is a simple, fast, safe, cheap
  • it does not require a recovery period
  • anaesthesia and operating room are not necessary

2- Making your lips fuller and alive by injecting tissues from your own body (fat, fascia, skin cells) is a new method to avoid allergic reactions of fillers. On the other hand, this operation requires an operating room, and there is a healing process in the area where the fat is removed. Nevertheless, the effectiveness of this injection lasts longer and has no side effects.

3- Another application of lip aesthetics is the process of reshaping and plumping them with surgery. The lips can be made more prominent by making incisions inside the lip. This leaves no scar on the lips as there is no incision from the outside. Aesthetic lip surgery is superior to other methods in terms of its long-lasting effect and more natural results. However, it is performed in the operating room and requires a few days of recovery.

The patient can be under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia during the surgery. The factor affecting this preference is the type of intervention. For example, filling injections do not require any anaesthesia. However, tissue transfer methods may require local or general anaesthesia. Depending on the preference of the patients, it is possible to apply one of these options.

Results of Lip Surgery

Lip surgery can provide stunning results for men and women who want to have beautiful lips. Smooth and well-defined lips can improve the overall look of the face. Some people wish for fuller lips, while others dream of having unique and beautiful lips. The latter may require lip lift surgery in some cases. This can be discussed in detail during the examination.

Lip surgeries start by analyzing the patient’s lip and then requires the identification of problems or missing aspects of the lips together with the patient. After this analysis, the desired lip can be obtained by selecting and applying the most appropriate method for the patient.

Lip Lifting Surgery

Lip lifting is suitable for patients who are not satisfied with the length of the upper lip area. The ideal length of this area in facial aesthetic surgery is between 12-15 millimetres. If the length in this section is too high and causes discomfort to the person, lip lifting surgery is a good option. On the other hand, the upper lip shortening procedure can be a very effective solution in some cases to create a balance on the face.

The healing process of lip lift aesthetics varies between 5 and 7 days. There is usually a 72 hour swelling on the upper lip, which can be controlled by cold compresses. However, you can observe the healing of the incision marks within a few weeks.
