Hair loss is a serious aesthetic problem. Today, many men and women around the globe are facing it. Some people just accept that it is permanent and they go on with their lives whereas some people resort to various methods to slow it down or to put an end to it.
If you are losing around 50-100 hair strands in a regular day, this is perfectly normal. This amount may increase during some seasonal changes. But if you are experiencing more hair loss than that, it means that your hair may be unhealthy. And there is a big chance that you will go bald soon.
Both men and women gradually lose their hair as they get older. However, baldness is more common among males. For some men, the hair loss is hard to notice, whereas it is extremely apparent for the others. This situation may be quite embarrassing and distressing, especially when you experience it as a young man.
What are the early symptoms of baldness for men?
The baldness may manifest itself in different ways for every man. Your baldness experience usually depends on what is causing it. Therefore, the symptoms are not going to be exactly the same for everyone.
Sometimes it occurs only on your scalp and sometimes on different areas of your body. It can happen quickly or gradually. The symptoms may be temporary or permanent. All of these depends on the cause of baldness. But here are some of the symptoms you might be experiencing:
- Hair gradually thinning on top of your head
- Roundly shaped bald spots in small areas (Alopecia)
- Losing too many hair strands when you comb your hair (remember that losing more than 100 hair strands in a day is excessive)
- Immediate hair loss which happens very quickly
- Noticing that your hairline is receding
- The hair lessening enough to make your scalp visible
What are the causes of baldness for men?
Losing 100 hair strands in a day is not going to be a substantial issue. Because the new hair strands will replace the lost ones. This is a natural process that should occur if you are a healthy individual.
But when the amount of hair loss is excessive, it will be much harder for the new hair strands to replace the ones that you have lost. And gradually, you will start to experience visible hair loss. This is what we call baldness.
For %90 of the men who suffer from baldness, the roots of the issue is usually a condition called ‘male pattern baldness’. This condition is due to the genes you receive from your parents. According to scientists, some of these genes may increase the sensitivity of your hair follicles to a hormone called DHT. This hormone causes your hair follicles to shrink. And when you have your hair follicles shrunk, it will be harder for them to grow effectively.
