Improve Breast Shape and Volume with A Breast Lift and Augmentation

When it is fully developed, the breast presents a remarkable level of fullness and elasticity. But no set of breasts could hope ever to escape the effects that gravity and age have in store for them.

Throughout their lives, women can appreciate how breast tissue loses elasticity. This leads them to sag and distance further from the pectoral zone permanently progressively.

What hanged so proudly and firmer one day can be reduced until a mere shadow of its former self remains. The sagging of the breast is a feature of both ageing, extreme weight loss, and the aftermath of childbirth and breastfeeding.

The fact that one of their defining features women are so proud of due to their attractiveness. However, it can decay so far as it weighs heavy on their hearts.

But it does not have to be that way. Cosmetic surgery can improve breast shape and volume with a breast lift and augmentation procedures. And they happen to be rather common, too. Breast lifts and augmentation procedures have been among the most performed surgeries for decades now.

Improving Breast Shape and Volume

Candidates for improvement of breast shape and volume have:

  • Misshapen breast following an extreme weight loss.
  • Undergone change in breast shape since childbirth.
  • Underdeveloped breast since puberty.
  • Uneasiness about how their breasts compare to their peers.

Before moving forward with surgery, it is necessary to choose which surgery.

Based on the assessment, the surgeon will recommend whether performing a breast lift, breast augmentation or both. Your own personal opinions, preferences, and expectations are, of course, also taken into account.

Breast Lift Procedure

The drooping of the breast, also known as ‘breast ptosis’, is evident once a woman gets old, breastfeeds or loses a lot of weight. A breast lift procedure restores the breast to the place they rested on in younger days.

To determine if you are a proper candidate for the procedure, a simple test, called the ‘pencil test’, can help. Simply place a pencil as far up as you can under one of the breasts. If the pencil does not fall, then you have droopy breasts and are an ideal candidate for the procedure.

The surgery proceeds under general anaesthesia. A different set of incisions employed depending on the extent of the sagging. All of them involve cutting either around the areola or the lower breast crease.

From the incisions, excision of skin begins, following by ‘lifting the breast’ by pulling them upwards and then suturing. The nipples and areola are also relocated higher.

Breast Augmentation Procedure

Nowadays, restoring or improving the levels of fullness on the breasts through augmentation via implants is quite common.

For it, the surgeon makes large incisions running from side to side of the underside creases of each breast. Through them, they insert implants made from silicone gel just beneath the mammary tissue, filling the breast. The incisions are then closed.

Both breast lift and a breast augmentation can proceed simultaneously during the same operation. Thus, effectively saving the patient precious time better allocated towards recovery.
